Thinking of My Dad on Father's Day

My dad generally liked to spend Father’s Day at home. We’d go to church and come home and my sisters and I would give him our homemade cards and whatever gifts we’d bought him. A tie. A package of socks. Whatever Mom suggested. He’d read the paper and give himself a day off of fixing our old house. The day would end with a special dinner.
My dad always wanted to be a writer. I think he was surprised I became one. I don’t know what he made of my work, but he certainly always told my sisters and me that he was proud of us.
Though he’s gone now, I still think of him on Happy Father’s Day. Here’s to all of the other dads out there doing right by their families!
If you’re a dad, how do you like to spend your special day?
PS Judging by the fashion of my wedding photo, guess what era!
