A Poem for SCATTERED LIGHT

In my upcoming book, SCATTERED LIGHT, which will be published Nov. 25, 2025 (sequel to my IPPY Gold Medal in YA Winner, WINTER LIGHT), I use poems and sayings that refer to light as a metaphor for the clarity — or lack thereof — that we have about our own lives, which is true of my protagonist, Mary Donahue, as well.
One of those jewels of wisdom and beauty is the above poem by Laura Jaworkski, a poet, inspirational quote-maker, book writer, illustrator, crocheter and fellow literary friend.
The poem, and Laura — who very graciously gave me permission to use the poem — reminds me that we can be alone, but not lonely, if we are loved.
Who else gets happy thinking about those who think we’re special?!
Thank you, Laura!
